Media Database
Use the list you made of 25 to 30 media items that you have at home to
make a database (use Microsoft Access).
Set It Up
Create a new database with the name "MyMediaInventory" (
for example 20091019mymediainventory5wissneraaron ).
Use the following fields with the following data types and field sizes (from
Office 2003).

Save the table as "Media".
(Hint: You do not want
a primary key.)
Enter Data
Fill in all of the data from your media inventory form (20-30 lines).
(Hint: If you are missing a few bits of data, you could
attempt to look it up online.)
Create Reports
Report #1
- Title of Report: Best Media Items of [your name]
- Include all six fields on the report
- Sort it:
- Primary sort -- Rating, from highest to lowest
- Secondary sort -- Sale Price, from highest to lowest
- Tritiary sort -- Title
- (Hint: Example video from
countries assignment.)
Report #2
- Title of Report: Catagories of Media Items of
[your name]
- Include only 3 fields: Type, Title, and Year
- Sort it:
- Primary sort -- Type, alphabetical
- Secondary sort -- Year, from oldest to newest
- Tritiary sort -- Title, alphabetical
- (Hint: Example video from
countries assignment.)
Report #3
- Make a report for yourself that you would like to take
home with you to keep.
- Title of Report: You make up the title, but it
must have at least your first & last name.
- Fields: Include whichever fields you want on your report.
- Sort: You decide how to sort, and how many fields to use
in the sort.
Check It
- Open all of your reports so they are fully zoomed in.
- Raise your
hand. Politely ask your teacher to please check all your reports.
