Australia is a huge beautiful country.  Getting to Australia is a little bit of a trick because it’s on the other side of the planet.  Sydney is the biggest city in Australia .  Cairns is another huge city located in the tropics.  The Great Barrier Reef is off the east coast of northern Australia .

From the United States , the best way to get to Australia is by airplane.  There are lots of companies that fly to Australia .  Qantas is an airline owned by Australia .  Flights to Australia typically leave from Los Angeles and land in Sydney .  Some flights land in Hawaii for refueling.  A flight to Australia takes about 14 hours.

Sydney is a huge and beautiful city.  It is located right on the Pacific Ocean on the east coast of southern Australia .  The region is very temperate with occasional rain.  The winters are very mild and snow is very rare.  The center of the city is filled with huge business buildings.  Throughout the area there are many parks, beaches, museums, and shops that cater to the needs of the tourists.  Sydney ’s mass transit system is excellent and includes excellent rail and bus connections.  The most popular sights to see in Sydney are the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House.

The city of Cairns is a major tourist destination located on the Pacific.  Cairns is set up to cater to tourists with numerous restaurants, places to stay, shopping opportunities, and tourist destinations.  To the north of Cairns is the Daintree National Forest .  This beautiful rainforest is the home of hundreds of unique species including giant flightless birds.  To the south and west are incredible forests, rivers, and waterfalls; many in their pristine state. 

The Great Barrier Reef features the greatest biodiversity of any place in the any of Earth’s ocean.
