Goal: Effective Keyboarding (Typing)

Focus on Correct Technique

• Posture

• Keep fingers on home keys

Is there a computer you can use outside of school?

• Type anything - emails, letters; from books, magazines, etc.

• Type drill lines (borrow sheets from school)

• Use Internet programs

• Buy a consumer computer program

We use MicroType

• Hand in I.U.P. - computer permission sheet

• Do Your Best

• Lessons usually take 30-45 minutes each

• Two new keys per lesson

• At least one MicroType lesson AND at least 50 minutes keyboarding per school day

Need More Time?  Absent?  Use Media Center!

• Before school 7:30 to 8:05 - ask your advisory teacher

• Lunch time, after eating lunch - ask the media specialist

• After school 2:25 to 3:30 - plan in advance with parent

• Late bus leaves before 3:30 p.m., check with media assistant for details

• Make sure to Sign In and Out
